Will Birmingham play in North American Basketball League?

The Iron City Dragons, a new semi-pro basketball team that will be based in Birmingham, announces they will be joining the North American Basketball League for the 2018 season.

Who owns the team and where they will play home games is not known.

The NABL's first season was in 2016.

The Dragons will become the second Birmingham team in the league, with the Birmingham Vulcans competing last year. However, the Vulcans ceased operations following the season. 

April 2018
No announcement was ever made, but the Iron City Dragons appear to have ceased operations before the season began.

Epilogue
The North American Basketball League continued play.

The league cancelled their 2020 season due to the world-wide COVID-19 pandemic.

In 2021, the NABL managed to play a few games before folding, and no champion was crowned.
